Glenorchy is one of Tasmania's most culturally diverse communities.
Council actively celebrates and supports that diversity through a range of programs, partnerships, and initiatives.
Welcoming Cities
Glenorchy City Council was the first Tasmanian local government to join the Welcoming Cities Australia Network — a national network of councils committed to creating communities where everyone can belong and participate fully in social, cultural, economic, and civic life.
Multicultural Hub, Moonah
Located at 65 Hopkins Street in Moonah, the Multicultural Hub is an innovative community space supporting both newly arrived and established multicultural communities. Delivered through Council’s partnership with the Multicultural Council of Tasmania and supported by the Tasmanian Government, the Hub hosts community events, gatherings, workshops, and meetings. It was a key outcome of Council’s Multicultural Community Spaces Plan.
