Community organisations, businesses and individuals can apply to lease or licence Council land and facilities for various purposes.
What is a lease or licence?
A lease gives you the right to use Council-owned land or a building for a defined period. Leases are typically used for longer-term occupation (one year or more) and come with more formal legal rights.
A licence gives you a more limited right to use Council property for a specified purpose. Licences are simpler and more flexible than leases.
Common uses
Leases and licences are used for:
- Sporting clubs using Council ovals and facilities
- Community organisations occupying Council buildings
- Commercial operators on Council land (e.g. kiosk operators, market operators)
- Telecommunications infrastructure
