Glenorchy City Council is committed to building a city that is accessible, welcoming, and inclusive for everyone —

Including the more than one in four Tasmanians who live with some form of disability.

People with disability are diverse, with varying needs across areas like mobility, communication, self-care, employment, and social participation. As Tasmania’s population ages, the need for inclusive services and infrastructure only grows — Tasmania already has the highest proportion of people aged 65 and over living with disability in the country, at 55 per cent.

To help guide Council’s work in this area, we have established the Access and Inclusion Special Committee, made up of community members with lived experience, chaired by Aldermen Shane Alderton and Tim Marks, and facilitated by Inclusive City Officer Lisa Rudd.

We’d like to warmly welcome and thank our newest committee members:

Kylie Eastley, Cassie Grimwood, Tracey Harding, Helen Hussey, Don McCrae, Adam Quarrell, Jacquie Sanderson, Kaitlyn Scolyer, Sahana Sehgal, Lorraine Webb, and Warren Yates.
