If you have a parking fine, you have 4 options.
You can view photos of your parking fine using your infringement number and vehicle registration, both found on your notice.
Your options — act within 28 days
- Pay the fine using any of Council’s payment options.
- Request a payment plan via the Extension of Time to Pay form (PDF).
- Contest the fine if you believe it was issued incorrectly — complete the Withdrawal Request form (PDF).
- Request a court hearing by lodging a Notice of Election for a Court Hearing (PDF) via email, in person (374 Main Road, 8.30am–5pm Mon–Fri), or by mail to The General Manager, PO Box 103, Glenorchy TAS 7010.
If you do nothing after 28 days
You’ll be automatically convicted and the fine passed to the Monetary Penalties Enforcement Service (MPES), who will add extra costs on top.
How fines are calculated
Fines are set by State Government legislation as ‘penalty units’, with the dollar value updated each financial year. You can check the current value of a penalty unit on the Justice Tasmania website.
